Waah Chai is an interactive digital chai adda based in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, reimagining the traditional Indian chai tapri as a multiplayer online social space. Designed to capture the warmth, spontaneity, and community of a neighbourhood tea stall, the web-based experience allows visitors to explore a rich pixel-art world directly from their browser. Inside Waah Chai, the experience centers around human connection. Users can approach stools to brew chai, engage in proximity-based text chat, and use spatial voice chat to talk naturally with those around them. The atmosphere is grounded by Waah Chai Radio, broadcasting curated classic ghazals and Bollywood hits, while interactive features like physics-based carrom boards and a biscuit dunk timing game provide casual social activities. A progression system called the Chai Passport rewards users for exploring the adda, offering collectible stamps and titles as they interact with the environment and the community. By combining the informal nature of an Indian adda with modern web technologies, Waah Chai aims to create a more organic, human, and playful alternative to traditional social networks—a place where people can simply sit, listen to music, and have a conversation over a digital cup of chai.
